BBC: The final parts of a plan for a £50m scheme to improve flood defences along a stretch of the River Trent have been approved. The Environment Agency project covering 27km (17 miles) will run from Sawley in Derbyshire to Colwick near Nottingham. The agency says 16,000 homes and businesses in Nottingham will gain extra protection from flooding.
