RCS

Redeployable Camp Systems International (RCS) is a South African company established as a strategic partnership between Weatherhaven Canada, and Canvas and Tent Manufacturing (from South Africa).

The two companies teamed up in 2004 to provide the South African government with a turnkey camp for 1,200 persons and a field hospital in the Great Lakes region, Africa. Since then the partnership has grown and the natural outcome was RCS, which integrates all that both companies have to offer into a unique turnkey remote-campsite service provider.

TURNKEY REMOTE-AREA CAMPS

Weatherhaven has, for the past 25 years, offered turnkey solutions for camps in remote areas to the North American mining industry, governments and the United Nations. As a result a number of unique products were developed that are successful in remote areas and extreme environments. As a partner in RCS they guarantee full financial, technical, engineering and administrative support.

SOFT-WALL STRUCTURE MANUFACTURING

For the past 35 years, Canvas and Tent has been the biggest soft-wall structure manufacturer in South Africa and supplier of tents and accessories to the government and southern-African leisure industry.

For the past four years they have manufactured various sizes of soft-wall structures under license to Weatherhaven for clients worldwide. They also integrate permanent fittings into transportable modular and pre-fabricated units such as kitchens, ablution units, workshops, offices, etc. As a partner in RCS they provide full financial support and their total manufacturing capacity, including construction and maintenance teams.

PRE-FABRICATED, MODULAR AND KNOCK-DOWN UNITS

RCS has also established a formal relationship with SIAM Steel, Thailand, a major manufacturer of worldwide certified, pre-fabricated, modular and knock-down units. The total design, development, manufacturing and logistical capacity of SIAM Steel supports RCS.

TURNKEY CAMP-OPERATION MANAGEMENT AND MAINTENANCE

RCS has a wide range of preferred camp-operation management and maintenance partners. This allows us to offer clients a ‘cradle-to-grave’ service. Our preferred partners are included on a project-to-project basis at an early stage during the planning to ensure that operational requirements are included in the scope of work and designs.

RCS supports their partners with the lifecycle management of facilities that includes upgrading, renovation and relocation as required. This is a unique arrangement and allows a specialised one-stop service.

RCS focuses on solutions for any client who requires turnkey camp solutions in remote areas. Apart from accommodation-related services we also provide solutions for field hospitals, aviation maintenance facilities, support systems for remote villages, infrastructural services and the logistics to support such services.

The RCS team consists of in-house project managers with extensive experience in development projects in the most difficult remotest areas on the globe. The project managers are supported by an on-call professional team consisting of legal experts, environmentalists, multi-disciplined consulting engineers, architects, quantity surveyors, logisticians, artisans and hands-on construction teams that can turn a green field into a world-class village in any environment.

RE-DEPLOYABLE AND PERMANENT BUILDINGS

RCS uses a combination of transportable products consisting of re-deployable soft or hard-walled units, pre-fabricated and modular structures. All are designed according to specification and factory manufactured. Structures are shipped as units or in knock-down packages that we assemble and install on site.

All units have electrical and plumbing reticulation that is factory manufactured in a plug-and-play format. Products include re-deployable pre-fabricated and modular units, and very highly certified permanent units.

ISO 9001 CERTIFIED MODULAR BUILDINGS

All RCS’ products comply with international certification, notably ISO 9001 and 14001, JIC, British and US certification, and SABS. Our lead-time is normally 30 to 40 days from order plus shipping. Construction time depends on the client’s specifications. However the product’s inherent characteristics are based on transportability by land, air or sea, easy construction and low maintenance.

RCS’ strength lies in the fact that we are pioneers; no challenge is too big, because our innovative minds will find practical solutions for all problems. Add to this our unsurpassed support base provided by Canvas and Tent, Weatherhaven, Siam Steel and our preferred partners, and we can rightfully say we offer the best turnkey solutions for camp requirements in remote areas.
