Use of a daily single-tablet combination HIV treatment called FTC/TDF, marketed as Truvada, reduced HIV infections by 44 percent overall when given to a group of uninfected men who have sex with men at increased risk for HIV. Strong evidence is provided that efficacy of the new HIV prevention method, called oral PrEP, could be much higher among those who used the daily medication more consistently.
