My knowledge of classical music wouldn’t fill a thimble so a program like Sounds of the Orchestra is a perfect fit for me. It’s designed for kids — and folks like me — as a fun tool for learning about the instruments in a philharmonic orchestra. The software is built around three modules: Play, Learn and Listen. The Play module is a matching game that involves musical instruments. The Learn module presents you with a graphic of the instruments in an orchestra as they’re typically arranged in a concert. The Listen module has both an educational and entertainment component.
