You can find this phenomenon at work in the App Store in the guise of old video games, old-timey-camera apps, or even a few apps that let you dial a number like an old rotary phone. Old stuff gets cast off quickly when the next new thing comes along, but after a few years spent fermenting in a barrel labeled “Aren’t We Glad That’s Over With,” retro tech emerges as a musky, aromatic brew that can be fun to play around with, albeit usually only in small doses.
