Aside from Prometheus — a generally fine movie that everyone seems to have decided to hate in retrospect — Alien: Covenant will be the first time that Ridley Scott has returned to the Alien universe and the first proper Alien sequel he's made. It seems like Scott is sticking with the same gritty sci-fi and horror vibes that he likes to use (good!), but he also seems to expand things in a bigger, shinier, and much more explosive way that I'm not immediately convinced is what the series needs. Covenant comes out May 19th.
